Some time around midnight Central Standard Time last night, the Good Smile Company officially announced the Figma version of Akiyama Mio from K-ON. I had known about it for several days because of its unofficial announcement on the Figma blog, but nonetheless, I was still excited to see it due to its fast approaching late February release date. Tired from a long day of class and work, I decided to go to bed and put a preorder in the morning.

As I’ve gotten more and more into anime and otaku culture, I’ve started to build up a collection of figures. While they’re usually well sculpted, nicely painted, and accurately capture the spirit of the characters, one of the main problems I’ve had is getting them at a good price. However, after much searching, here are the sites I frequent most often for my anime goods.
Since I just posted a review, I’ll keep this one brief. This Fate/Stay Night figure is f-ing beautiful. I never finished the anime since the story really didn’t interest me, but I love the character designs for this series. I’ve been thinking of getting a figure of this series for a while, but none of them have ever really sparked my interest until now. So what’s stopping me from buying this? The cost. According to the product description, It’s going to retail for ¥9800. While I can afford it, I’ve never spent that much on a single figure in my life. I’ve usually limited my budget to ~$50, and have gotten a lot of nice stuff while sticking to that limit. However, this figure may convince me to raise that limit.
For those of you who use ebay, I found a great seller who sells anime stuff here.
There’s a pretty good selection, and the prices are better than a lot of other sites. The shipping discout is a bit misleading as it will only take off half the shipping cost of your cheapest items, not the total shipping. You only save a couple bucks, but its still nice. Check it out.
